Mazzaferro said about 130 firefighters from several crews are battling the fire.

A wildfire that might have been started by fireworks and burned more than 320 acres while threatening homes in the California city of Vacaville was 100 percent contained Sunday, officials said. When firefighters initially responded, the blaze was just 5 to 10 acre fire.

Vacaville spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said the fire, which began Saturday, was exacerbated by dry conditions and gusts of winds that reached 40 miles per hour, the Associated Press reported.

At one point, many streets were closed and neighborhoods were under a voluntary evacuation order.

Voluntary evacuations affecting about a hundred homes were set to be lifted at 9 a.m. Sunday.

He added: “Eyewitnesses have told fire officials they saw someone using fireworks in the park shortly before the fire started, but the cause of the blaze is still under investigation”. Lagoon Valley Park will be closed today to all public access as fire crews continue to work to extinguish the fire and investigators try to determine a cause, fire officials said.

In the meantime, city officials expressed gratitude to the firefighters and community.
