Perkins reached the finals of the tournament against the masked Gran Metalik after he defeated Kota Ibushi in the semifinals earlier in the night.
However, Perkins slowed down the pace by locking in a kneebar – the move he had used to beat Ibushi in the last four – and even though Metalik wriggled free, the damage was done. Metalik kicked off the event by defeating Zack Sabre Jr.in order to advance.
Out of the 32 competitors from 16 different countries, Filipino-American wrestler TJ Perkins emerged victorious in World Wrestling Entertainment’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament on Wednesday, September 14 (Thursday, September 15, Manila time) at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
And in the finals, Perkins emerged victorious after all-out war, reversing an attempted Metalik Driver off the second rope into TJP Clutch for the submission victory.

Gallagher, though, will be part of Raw’s new cruiserweight division alongside Perkins, Metalik, Gargano, Swann, Dar, Cedric Alexander, Akira Tozawa, Brian Kendrick and Tommaso Ciampa.
