With only two original matches on the card, no one competing at TakeOver saw in-ring action on WWE NXT this week.

This did exactly what it was meant to do, in that it introduced the fan to the faces that will dominate women’s wrestling in NXT going forward and, more importantly, carry the mantle in place of Bayley, who is destined for the main roster.

This match is going to be used to showcase Roode’s ability as he is being positioned as one of the brands top talents moving forward, putting him against a solid worker in Almas allows for a good match where the fans will certainly be invested. Aries faces No Way Jose.

Jose hasn’t just sat back in this feud though, fans have finally seen what he is all about and it isn’t just dancing. In addition to that, NXT has become its own touring brand with shows taking place all around the world almost every weekend.

This could be an important match for both men as they are on the cusp of a potential big push to the main event spot and the victor could very easily be next in line for a shot at the title.

The last bit of news coming out of this show is that Ember Moon finally has an opponent for her debut at Takeover and it is none other than Billie Kay. He says Ember Moon is a very exciting performer and he’s excited to get her started in NXT. Bayley has been the top female competitor in NXT while her top competition; Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch all moved onto the main roster. Gargano & Ciampa challenge The Revival for the Tag Titles. He says they’re not trying to have the best women’s match they can have, they’re trying to have the best match of anyone on any night.

When the dust was settled, Carmella’s team took home the victory.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are NXT’s top heel tag team.

This match is sure to be a potential show stealer and will certainly be a physical encounter between four of NXT’s toughest stars. She subsequently lost it, and was dominated in the process, to Asuka. This is Bayley’s long-awaited rematch and likely one of her last matches in NXT. Asuka and Bayley have shown respect for each other in recent weeks but have made it clear when it comes to TakeOver, that goes out of the window as they are both desperate to walk away the champion.

Byron Saxton conducted the interview, but he wasn’t alone, as NXT general manager William Regal joined him along with a slew of security guards Regal hired just in case things got a little too testy between Joe and Nakamura.
