WWE releases several wrestlers including Cameron and Santino Marella

He won the first season of NXT and became the leader of the Nexus stable comprised entirely of WWE rookies.

Barrett was kicked out of The League of Nations faction on TV last month. This doomed Sandow, and he took a long time to recover.

Marella won the IC title in his debut match in 2007, and was used primarily as a comedy act during his run. He did say that he would end up returning to the ring in time, but only “when the time is right”.

The release doesn’t provide much detail, although some of the names were to be expected.

The 66-year-old Colter was brought back to WWE in 2013 as the manager of Jack Swagger. Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantel), who was last seen on WWE television with Alberto Del Rio, will be appearing at an event for Global Force Wrestling in June. Here are eight reasons why WWE dropped the ball with Damien Sandow.

El Torito hasn’t been used by WWE since Los Matadores turned on their loyal bull and since Primo and Epico have once again been repackaged and Hornswoggle had already been released, there doesn’t seem to be any room for little people in WWE’s new era. Cameron was sent down to the WWE’s developmental branch, NXT, last November.

Marella hasn’t wrestled since announcing his retirement in 2014. El Torito hadn’t been on WWE television in months, but he did still thank the fans and show his gratitude for the opportunities he had received.

In addition to that, Cesaro recently returned from injury, John Cena is set to come back in late May and Seth Rollins could be on the verge of a return from his knee ailment as well.

It always seems like WWE does what many refer to as “Spring Cleaning” of their roster this time of year and this may very well be it. The fact that three releases were announced within just a few minutes of one another makes it seem like there could be more coming and that these three are just the beginning.
