WWE Smackdown Live Results 8/09/16
The show featured a guest appearance from Mick Foley and a barn-burner between Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio. Randy Orton takes on Alberto Del Rio, and American Alpha returns to in-ring action. As such, the four-way brawl involving American Alpha, The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley), The Ascension, and The Vaudevillains didn’t get people too excited about what could be a four-way fight for SmackDown Live’s own tag team belts.

Bray Wyatt & Erick Rowan kicked off SmackDownLIVE by proclaiming that the war was not over.
Becky Lynch’s scheduled encounter with Eva Maire failed to take place after the latter suffered a wardrobe malfunction, leaving Smackdown newbie Alexa Bliss to step in and defeat Lynch with a moonsault. As a result, Heath Slater does not receive a SmackDown Live contract.
Eva Marie was looking to make her debut on the blue brand after she seemed to feign an injury before her match with the Lasskicker Becky Lynch. Bliss hit the chokeslam and Twisted Bliss (formerly the Sparkle Splash) for the win. The two faced off and the Mexican Aristocrat attempted to injure The Viper before his match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but it was Orton who got the last laugh with an RKO Outta Nowhere. Orton wins by disqualification after Del Rio uses a chair to hurt Orton’s arm. If he loses, he is still a free agent.
Plus, Heath Slater’s hopes of earning a Smackdown contract were dashed yet again, firstly by Rhyno and then by himself!
Slater lost to Rhyno courtesy of a Gore but Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were contemplating rewarding his valiant efforts with a deal – until he stormed out of the building.
Last week, both of these women were supposed to square off against each other.
Lynch was upset and wanted a match, but Alexa Bliss came out to make her debut on the main roster. Nattie tried to jump Carmella during her entrance again, but Carmella was ready for her. Natalya got cocky and Carmella was able to lock in the Cone of Silence for the submission victory.
– Baron Corbin beat up Kalisto backstage for costing him a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.

Ambrose barely hits a suicide dive on Bray Wyatt to leave Ziggler and Rowan in the ring. Just as it appeared that the temporary allies might eliminate their adversaries, The Showoff (accidentally?) struck the WWE Champion with a superkick, paving the way for Wyatt to hit Sister Abigail, further complicating the ever-evolving conflict between the SummerSlam opponents. Ziggler hit Rowan with a superkick for the win.
