WWE SummerSlam 2016: Most Memorable Moments from Event

WWE executive Stephanie McMahon and hall of famer Mick Foley debuted the new belt. Zayn was elevated during his feud with Kevin Owens and while Owens has followed that up recently by teaming with Chris Jericho, Zayn needs some new life.

Did Roman Reigns turn heel last night? Rollins won with a pedigree, but Zayn looked strong.

It has been a whirlwind 48 hours for Finn Balor, the WWE Universal Championship and the Raw brand of WWE.

Constantly shifting momentum between these two as their personal RAW match raged on, with Neville landing a 450 splash off the apron and a corkscrew moonsault on Owens who responded in kind with big clotheslines and superkicks. But Neville ended up on the business end of the real move of the night, as Owens picked him up into a torture rack before spinning him into a vicious neckbreaker. Remember the WWE title I won from The Rock – that moment that has gone down as among the greatest in Monday Night Raw history?

Here’s wishing the champ a full and speedy recovery. Corey Graves also did a great job of explaining that Anderson and Gallows attacking the Dudleys was the same thing the Dudleys would have done to another veteran team back in the day. Brooke was on the offense after Charlotte distracted Bayley.

Big E (with Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) def. Karl Anderson (with Luke Gallows) by pin following the Big Ending. Young was, too, when he came to Backlund’s aid, suffering a Clash of the Titus from the self-proclaimed “only Prime Time Player”.

Reigns and Rusev never even threw a punch inside the ring, while the fight stayed outside the ring the entire four minutes of their confrontation with both man getting their shots in. And don’t go with Big Cass long before he’s ready simply to shock people.

Charlotte enjoyed gloating about taking back the Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks, with Dana Brook back by her side. And that person was none other than NXT’s mega-popular Bayley!

The role Cena played in the match from start to finish also shouldn’t be overlooked.

The NXT sweetheart was on fire, even with Charlotte building up the animosity between the two with some ringside distractions.

Braun Strowman defeated Johnny Knockout with a reverse chokeslam. After an wonderful three month long feud with the company’s top dog in Cena, it’s a given that Styles will move on to get another shot at the World Title as soon as possible. However the end of my marathon TV viewing was Summer Slam which could have had an impact on how I perceived the broadcast. I just thought that Enzo & Cass are more of the long-term tag team, which should have meant a win for them. And a signature 3D through the table on Primo for good measure. Bubba Ray could fill the spot as a top level heel on Raw, but that would leave D-Von with no direction.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. Curious as to why the match order was as it was and I’ll hopefully hear why in the future.

The WWE finally showed some smarts by doing what it should have done in the first place, putting Reigns in the midcard where he is now feuding with Rusev over the United States Championship.
