Wyoming Caucuses: Sanders Hopes to Cut Clinton’s Delegate Lead

“If she were to lose, or if it were very close in NY – a state that she represented in the Senate – that would be very devastating”, Campbell said.

Sanders believes he could pull off a win in the Empire State. “That dramatic gain leaves us only 214 delegates behind – a margin we can and fully intend to surpass by the conclusion of voting on June 14”.

The contest in Wyoming is the final Democratic vote ahead of New York’s April 19 primary, where the candidates will be vying for 247 delegates.

Last week, the primaries in Wisconsin dealt a setback to the frontrunners of both the Republican and Democratic parties, Donald Trump and Clinton, with Senator Ted Cruz and Sanders emerging victorious.

With a total of 291 delegates on the cards, it’s more than 10 percent of the tally needed to win the party’s nomination, according to Reuters. So far, he’s winning about 45 percent.

Clinton and Sanders are each expected to leave the state with seven pledged delegates. Marco Rubio, who suspended his campaign, has 171 delegates.
