Wyoming delegates unsurprised Cruz didn’t endorse Trump
Cruz Wednesday night giving a speech at the Republican National Convention where he refused to uphold his pledge, keep his word and endorse Donald Trump.

“And that pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I’m going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father”. When Cruz finished his speech without endorsing Trump, a lusty cacophony of boos chased him from the stage. “It’s about principles and ideals”, and he reiterated his argument from last night, saying, “We either stand for shared principles, or we’re not worth anything”.
But he said Cruz “didn’t honour” the pledge that Republican primary candidates had made to support the eventual GOP nominee.
A source familiar with the campaign inner circle’s thinking but not authorized to speak publicly said Trump, his relatives and closest advisers were angry at Cruz’s move and had expected, while not an endorsement, a warmer embrace of the nominee and less showmanship from the senator.
Meanwhile, Cruz on Thursday spoke to the Texas delegation, where he was repeatedly pressed and declined to endorse – or even commit to voting for – Trump.
When Cruz told those in the hall and those watching and listening at home to “vote your conscience”, some of the Californians leaped from their seats and shouted “Trump!” Ted Cruz was actually a sign of party unity and support for his father.
Her comment on Cruz was giant dose of hypocrisy; telling an active Senator that he should give up his career is rich considering that she hasn’t had a career for years, yet continues to spout her political opinions daily.
Cruz is already positioning himself to run again for the White House in 2020 and discouraged supporters from casting a vote for him this fall.
“If we’re not going to do that, why do we have elections? Than all of the people who voted in the elections?” he said.
The crowd’s boos quickly switched to cheers as Trump entered the arena at the moment Cruz finished.
The only reference Cruz made to a potential endorsement was when he asked people to vote, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Campbell, who has written the upcoming book “Polarized: Making Sense of a Divided America”, said Trump’s speech tonight “must do what he can to undo the damage of his nomination campaign”.
