X Factor victor Dami Im will represent Australia at Eurovision
Season five X Factor victor Dami Im is reportedly set to represent Australia in the 2016 Eurovision contest following Guy Sebastian’s success a year ago.

Former Eurovision victor Conchita Wurst made the much-anticipated announcement at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday night during her concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, before Dami took to the stage to perform.
Led into glory by Guy Sebastian a year ago as Australia’s very first Eurovision contestant, Australia has once again been invited back to compete in the annual Eurovision Song Contest.
Duo act, hosts Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang will be poised and ready from the commentary booth in the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden to guide Australians through the meatballs, music and madness that is Eurovision.
It’s fair to say Im has already had a degree of local success, but this hasn’t quite translated overseas just yet.
SBS, which will broadcast the competition on May 10, 12 and 14, announced in November that Australia would return to Eurovision. Dami has huge musical talent, and her story is like a modern Australian fairy-tale.
“He told me that it’s sort of like the Hunger Games but a really positive one”, she said. The Korean-Australian singer, who stood out because of her powerful voice and confident stage presence, was considered to be the competition’s frontrunner since the live show rounds.
Whatever Im ends up delivering in the contest – Australians are glad, although still surprised, that they’re still somehow participating in Eurovision, despite being well outside of Europe.
It was heavily rumoured that Dami would score the gong to be Australia’s contestant and earlier this evening some media outlets had even jumped the gun to report the news.

Dami has earned multiple ARIA accreditations, including top spot chart positions and multi-platinum sales for her self-titled debut album and hit singles “Alive”, “Super Love” and “Gladiator”.
