In Saturday’s (4 October) show, there were tears aplenty as she managed to whittle her 16 girls down to just six, ahead of the next stage of the Judges’ Houses.
Among a number of acts hoping to impress Rita will be 17-year-old student Charli Beard, 21-year-old sales assistant Havva Rebke and 25-year-old dental receptionist Lauren Murray. “You were better the first time, but if it was me, I would give you a chair”.

The Six Chair Challenge may be a fairly recent addition to the X Factor but it already has one key rule: if we haven’t seen your life story, your nan and your mid-sob hug with Olly Murs in the audition rounds, you will not make it through to Judges’ Houses.
