‘X-Men: Apocalypse’: The Mutants Are Back!

Despite the rumored Dazzler cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse (Played by Taylor Swift no less), we need to see X-Men’s most biggest, mutant, pop-sensation/secret agent in the films proper.

X-Men: Apocalypse is finally coming out this weekend, and though the reviews on it have been fairly mixed, it should still do really well at the box office. Xavier enlists a reluctant Raven, aka the shape-shifting Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), to gather Xavier’s strongest students – including the laser-eyed Scott Summers, alias Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and the telepathic Jean Gray (“Game of Thrones'” Sophie Turner) – to head off the end of the world. They will include the embittered Magneto (Michael Fassbender) who has been hiding from the police, disguised as a Polish steel worker.

“X-Men” films have always had a complicated timeline, constantly going back and forth.

However, Singer confirmed that there are no immediate plans for an X-Men film involving the original cast. For those that may not know, the character of Jubilee actually lived in a mall prior to joining the X-Men, so the scene did seem like it would have been very authentic.

“I found out I got cast (sic) in my history class”, she said. A deep-voiced villain (Oscar Isaac) who’s a cranky-and clanky-cross between King Tut and Darth Vader. While some of the mystic characters that grant Magik her powers like Doctor Strange and Dormammu might fall under Marvel’s cinematic umbrella, complicating her appearance in the films.

The last X-Men film, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, infamously cut out the character of Rogue from the theatrical release of the movie, adding Anna Paquin’s performance back for the Rogue Cut, that premiered on DVD and Blu-ray. But James McAvoy, who provides a characteristically sympathetic anchor as professor Charles Xavier, does a lot to keep things grounded as the story gradually surrenders to the obligatory onslaught of special effects. The professor’s friend and rival, Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto (Fassbender), put his mutant powers aside to live as a family man in Poland.

Once again, Evan Peters provides a dose of comic relief as the speedy Quicksilver, although even that gag is essentially just a reprise from “Days of Future Past”. “If you can see that part of her, that’s the best introduction to allow fans to want to see more“, says Munn. After all, poor word of mouth can certainly impact the numbers, but given how Apocalypse did overseas last week, 20th Century Fox probably doesn’t have much to worry about.

A new villain revealed! There is good reason to stick around for the conclusion of Bryan Singer's X-Men Apocalypse which finally hits US theaters Friday
