Xbox Fitness To Be Shut Down

Microsoft has announced that it is shutting down Xbox Fitness. Users will no longer be able to download and use the service and its content, including the content that has been purchased.

Even now, Xbox Fitness content is unavailable for purchase, while already-purchased content will become inaccessible on June 30, 2017.

Microsoft has been adding Xbox 360 games regularly to the mix via backward compatibility on the Xbox One for more than a few months at a pace of almost 1 game a day since launch. As a result, the company says that it will be scaling back the support for the Xbox Fitness services over the coming year.

The second stage starts on December 15, when Microsoft will remove the Free with Gold offer for Xbox Fitness. Which means Xbox Live Gold members will no longer be able to access the 30+ Xbox Fitness workouts that are now available.

One user, writing on the Xbox Forums said: “I’m pretty **** off that they are shutting down something i paid for within the lifetime of the hardware”. Unfortunately, Microsoft Studios has not only made a decision to cease providing new content as of today, but they will be shuttering the service completely by July 2017.

Any existing content can be played back for a year, or more specifically, until July 1, 2017. Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, your Xbox One Games will play on Scorpio and in many instances, PC.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft about the status of refunds for content purchased for Xbox Fitness.

Destiny players that want to upgrade from a Legacy Console to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will need to perform the Account Import as part of the upgrade process.

Microsoft had pushed the service quite heavily, initially, acquiring the skills of celebrity fitness guru Jillian Michaels to lead the content.

“Why can’t we just download and keep it.This makes no sense.” replied one forum member.

“We know that many of you have used Xbox Fitness to begin your fitness journey”.

My colleague Jeff Grubb’s wife, Stephanie Grubb, was a fan of Xbox Fitness. “It’s been a fantastic, fun, and fit journey to share with you all”.
