The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility release date is finally here. Rather than keep users guessing on when they’ll receive the update, Microsoft is clarifying the upgrade process and other details.

As many have predicted, numerous games included in the initial wave of backward compatible titles come directly from Microsoft’s extensive library.
“When we looked at the New Xbox One Experience (the new update) we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI (user interface)”, Ybarra said, as reported by CNBC.
Turns out, everything is not contained in a single update. As this is a global rolling launch, consoles in Connected Standby will be updated at various times throughout the day based on your time zone. All users aren’t getting the update immediately. And it can also stream games back to a Windows PC or tablet, allowing people to play their Xbox games from another room.
For example, instead of opening a separate app to view the friends list, a simple click of the guide button brings it right up. If you want the update but also enjoy saving energy, you’ll need to do the following steps at a few point after midnight Pacific time tonight. This will mean that the Xbox One console can now play Xbox 360 games.

“We will begin the global rollout of the New Xbox One Experience after 3:01am ET/ 12:01am PT November 12th”, Xbox’s Larry Hryb announced on his Major Nelson blog. They have noticed that there are 48 tabs on Xbox One’s categories which they consider as clutter. Plus, Microsoft 10’s Cortana digital assistant will be included, although we still have to wait until next year for this one. You can access your Profile, Friends, and Settings; quickly start a Party; view your Messages and Notifications; and Snap an application all from the new guide. The new vertical gallery view brings more listings at a glance. And the newly introduced feature is being cited as one particular factor why the Xbox One could shift millions of units this holiday season.
