Xbox VR games likely to be Scorpio exclusive
All non-VR games will play on Xbox One and Xbox Scorpio, Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s head of Xbox games marketing has confirmed to Engadget. He said that ordinary games can also be played on the console, although it’s created to play on native 4K TV screens. Instead, they are now focusing on building a library of games, a community and the ability “to iterate with the hardware” which they’re making a pretty big bet on with Project Scorpio.

Greenberg continued on by saying that there will be no Project Scorpio exclusive titles as they “don’t want anyone to be left behind”. The industry may continue to support new consoles for a few more years, but the technology is there to ensure that people are not obligated to buy a new console, and it may indeed be time to take advantage of that potential. “Now, that space, we don’t think of that as console gaming, we think of that as high-fidelity VR, and so with the VR experiences those will be new things that you will get on Project Scorpio”. For now, only VR is exclusive to Scorpio, but when the next console update comes around, it’s easy to imagine games that will be playable on both Scorpio and its successor, but not necessarily the original Xbox One.
“We don’t think of that as console gaming, we think of that as high-fidelity VR”, said Greenberg.
According to Greenberg, Microsoft thinks about its consoles as a “family of devices”. Citing the smartphone market as an example, Spencer wants the video game market to shift to a more constantly-updating hardware system.

But we’ll see. We’re going to learn from this, we’re going to see how that goes. There would only be one group of gamers, not divided by console generations, that could play, communicate, and interact with one another, regardless of console level. Now, the company has further clarified its statements by pointing out that Project Scorpio will have VR-only games. “And that’s the real major step-change”.
