XCOM 2 Console Release Confirmed

XCOM 2 released earlier this year only on PC and it was a total success leaving our reviewer saying ” the extension to the life of XCOM 2 is limitless. And now, 2K Games and Firaxis have announced that “XCOM 2” will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this September.

Firaxis has secured the services of California-based developer The Workshop to handle the port.

2K’s vice president of marketing Matt Gorman commented: “Firaxis has successfully enhanced the XCOM franchise, as XCOM 2 has earned both massive critical and fan acclaim”.

Aside from the controls, XCOM 2 will play the same on consoles as it did on PC: players will build out their mobile headquarters, recruit resistance fighters, and engage in grid-based skirmishes with alien forces.

Enemy Unknown launched on consoles alongside PC in 2012, as did Enemy Within a year later. The studio previously developed the Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage expansion for Borderlands 2, and was responsible for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Evil Within. With console mod support now available thanks to Fallout 4, there is a possibility that XCOM 2 on consoles will have mod support as well, so gamers can add puppy guns, Storm Troopers, and more to their heart’s content. XCOM have now been disbanded and it’s up to players to come back from the shadows to reclaim Earth! ‘As avid console players ourselves, we’re excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans’.

XCOM 2 was a pretty good game when it came out for PC in February, but console gamers weren’t offered a place in the resistance.
