Xiaomi launches Redmi 3S, 3S Prime smartphones in India
Seems like August will have a flurry of device launches, as the month begins with the launch of Lenovo K5 Note in India, followed by the Galaxy Note7 global launch and now, alongside the launch of OPPO F1s, the Chinese Internet brand Xiaomi that has put it’s foot into several electronic categories has launched its next budget device, the Redmi 3s smartphone in India. Redmi 3S will be priced at INR 6,999, while Redmi 3S Prime, the higher memory model which also features a fingerprint sensor, will retail for INR 8,999. Redmi 3S packs a punch with a large 4100 mAh battery that easily powers through two days of usage on a single charge, and is the first smartphone in India powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 430 octa-core processor.

And it is this form factor that is perhaps one of the most endearing features in design terms of the Redmi 3S Prime. Both devices will be initially available only on Flipkart.com and at Xiaomi’s official store Mi.com from 9 August. What do you guys think of the pricing?
Driving the Redmi 3S Prime is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and Adreno 505 GPU.
Both Redmi 3S and 3S Prime comes in three colours – dark grey, silver and gold. The smartphones sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), f/2.0 aperture, HDR mode, 1080p video recording, and LED flash. The device was first launched in June in China as the upgraded version to the Redmi 3 and Redmi 3 Pro. While the front camera is still a measly 5-megapixel with a f/2.2 aperture, but is capable of shooting videos at 1080p (that’s awesome). The phone has a 5-inch phone has a HD screen and it is largely made out of metal. The phone is dual-SIM phone, and supports all LTE bands in India. You also have the option to expand your storage upto 128 gigs using a MicroSD card.

On the connectivity front, it offers 4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB. The handsets are backed by a 4100mAh battery just like the original Redmi 3. It is thicker than the Cupertino Kid at 8.5 mm as compared to 7.1 mm and wider (69.6 mm to 67.1 mm), but rather remarkably is only one gramme heavier: 144 grammes to the 143 grammes of the iPhone 6s.
