Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite smartphones at an event held in Berlin.

While the Mi A2 will make it to India, with announcements on price availability soon but it doesn’t look like we will get the Mi A2 Lite in the country going by the market availability slide at the end of the presentation, where India wasn’t listed among the number of countries getting the phone.
“Mi A2 is coming to India on 8th August”, tweeted Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi, and Managing Director, Xiaomi India.
Clearly, the Mi A2 Lite is a lot more expensive than the the Mi A1 which is probably why Xiaomi has also launched the Lite variant.
Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 runs on the stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system as it is launched under Android One program. If Xiaomi launches the Mi A2 Lite in India, then the phone might retail at a starting price of Rs 11,999 for the base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Much like some of the other two-tier smartphone releases of late from other companies, Xiaomi has two distinct phones here with the same name. The cameras facilitate features such as AI Scene Recognition, AI Portrait Mode, AI Background Bokeh and AI Smart Beauty 4.0. Up front, the smartphone will have a 20MP AI-backed front camera with a 3,010mAh battery under. Notably, there is no 3.5mm audio jack so on the phone. The Xiaomi Mi A1, for one, was a particularly interesting Android One device when it was introduced. The 3GB/32GB Mi A2 Lite goes for Euro 179 (about Rs 14400) and the 4GB/64GB iteration for Euro 229 (approx Rs 18400).
On that note, it seems Xiaomi isn’t done teasing fans about what the features of the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be.
The rear of the smartphone will still feature a dual-camera setup, but this one will only have a 12-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel camera. The screen has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a notch on top.
It also features a 5.99-inch display.
Apparently, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will come in three color variants, namely black, gold, and blue. The device is expected to have 4G with support for VoLTE along with other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

You can choose from options ranging from 4GB RAM with 32GB of onboard storage, to 6GB RAM with 128GB of space. The back of the phone has a vertical dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor located in the center.
