Xiaomi Mi Max is a 6.44-inch behemoth of a phone

The Mi Max phablet has pretty much been expected to drop today, but alongside it, Xiaomi has also announced the next generation of its MIUI custom Android experience. The large IPS display is 6.44-inches in size with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and features 2.5D curved glass.

The Xiaomi Mi Max will also come in 1,499 RMB, £160 or $230, Snapdragon 650, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 1,699 RMB, £180 or $260, Snapdragon 652, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage options. There are three variants to choose from, starting with 3GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, going up to 4GB RAM with 128GB of space. We know what it will pack internally and how it will look, but that does not stop photos from being leaked out.

As you can see in the colorful and vibrant images, the CEO clearly wants to attract our attention constantly towards the large screen of the Mi Max.

For casual photographers, the Mi Max is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera along with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. The rest of the two models have a Snapdragon 652 at their heart. The phone also has support for up to 128GB microSD cards.

It is backed by a 4,850mAh non-removable battery that can last more than a day of usage. Besides a renewed design with new fonts and bolder colours, MIUI 8 also includes new features including app cloning and multiple accounts on the same phone.

Notes app now comes with a security code, or a fingerprint scan. Therefore, it is believed that Mi Max will have new innovative features that may help the company regain its lost position of prominence. Photo apps allow users to doodle over photos or add stickers.

In terms of pricing, past rumors suggested that the Xiaomi Mi Max will be made available for as low as $200-equivalent in China. Beta access starts on 1 June. The recently launched Redmi Note 3 is the first device to use this processor.
