Xiaomi’s H1 handset sales put full-year target in doubt
Xiaomi sold 34.7 million smartphones between January and June 2015, an impressive 33% increase from a year ago, and 2014 was already an explosive year in sales for Xiaomi.

While it tried to frame the news as a positive, the truth is that it’s worrisome for the company.
Xiaomi sees Brazil as a stepping stone into Latin America. Barra is in charge of promoting Xiaomi’s products in emerging markets outside China, including Brazil. Tried to make a statistic which was insignificant more important than it was. In total, the top six China-based smartphone suppliers shipped 83.4 million smartphones and held a 25% share of the 1Q15 worldwide smartphone market, down four points from their 29% combined marketshare in 2014.
Also Thursday, Xiaomi revealed disappointing smartphone sales for the first half of 2015. However, a slowdown in the Chinese phone market earlier this year meant he has had to eat his words.
In contrast, non-smartphone cellphone shipments dropped by 18% in 2013 and 23% in 2014. The company has been dubbed China’s Apple and has a great number of fans on the mainland.
Even though Xiaomi is readying itself to launch the Mi5 flagship phone, the new phone may come across heavy weather given that Apple’s next iPhone models are set to launch around the same period. Clearly, that’s not happening.
Since the end of 2014, Xiaomi has faced concerns of stagnation.
Xiaomi, which was founded in April 2010, has 100 million customers using its MIUI operating system.
The world’s most valuable start-up company might not stay that way for very much longer.
The company, which is estimated to be worth $45 billion, sold 61 million mobile devices in 2014. In some cases, smartphones sold by the Chinese companies have been known to sell for as little as $50. Basically only Apple and Samsung are making money.

All other major smartphone makers rely on Android, which gives them little room to differentiate.
