Xiaomi has announced the all new Mi Pad 2 tablet, which was unveiled alongside the Redmi Note 2 handset.

The Redmi Note 3 is the first Xiaomi device to sport a fingerprint scanner, something that other manufacturers have been incorporating in their devices from quite some time. The company will start selling the Redmi Note 3 on November 27 through their official website. And then we have the final Redmi Note 3 upgrade, which is a 8.65mm-thick full metal body, which is only 4 grams heavier than the Redmi Note 2 and its plastic frame.

From what we have seen, both handsets sport a MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit Octa-core processor and a 5.5-inch display.

Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 offers only Wi-Fi support, so don’t expect to enjoy LTE speed on this device. This is paired with either 2 GB of RAM for the 16 GB internal memory variant or 3 GB of RAM for the higher end 32 GB internal memory model.

Xiaomi today took the wraps off of the Redmi Note 3, just a few months after the announcement of the Redmi Note 2. The tablet also comes with a reversible USB Type-C port. On the Camera front, the device is equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

But not stopping there, the company also outed an iPad mini 4 competition in the Mi Pad 2. Xiaomi claims it’ll unlock the phone in a dizzying 0.3-seconds. The Redmi Note 3 is the successor to its Redmi Note 2 budget phablet. Xiaomi has put in a lot of effort into the new model by making it lighter and thinner than the original model. It has a metal build and will be sold in Champagne Gold or Dark Grey colors.

Elsewhere, there’s a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing camera. The 16 GB model is priced at 999 yuan which is roughly the equivalent of United States $ 156 and the 64 GB model is priced at 1299 yuan which is USA $ 203.

The other major upgrade over the Note 2 is the addition of a fingerprint sensor. Android would arguably work better on the Mi Pad 2’s 7.9in display but, HEY, at least you have a choice when it comes to what OS you want aboard the $200 slate.
