Xiaomi unveils the Mi VR Play headset

Mi VR Play is set to make a huge impact in China where VR is still in its infancy. Compared to the Oculus Rift or the upcoming Samsung VR Gear, the Xiaomi VR headset still has a lot of catching up to do.

As the headset also features anti-slip strips in order to keep your smartphone safe and aligned with the lenses, there’s literally no need to put efforts after figuring out for the best possible view while using these Xiaomi VR headsets.

Last but not least, it should be mentioned that Xiaomi plans to offer the VR Toy Edition in a range of styles ranging from pure black to fake leopard skin and even denim.

The Xiaomi VR Toy Edition should be compatible with all phones with a display size between 4.7 and 5.7 inches across the diagonal. The dual openings on the front allow the slight positioning adjustments and ventilation.

After many teasers and trailers, Xiaomi has launched their first Virtual Reality headset in China.

Xiaomi has just unveiled its first virtual reality headset, Mi VR Play, which will target a much wider audience making it a major competition to Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google Cardboard. However, Xiaomi has started sending out these headsets to a select group of beta testers. Instead of the smartphone clipping inside the headset or secured using plastic, Xiaomi has made a decision to turn to the use of a zipper mechanism to unzip the pouch where the phone will be slotted into. As for content, the brand has debuted a brand new Mi VR app and ecosystem. You might not be able to buy this in the store or online yet, but Xiaomi is looking for beta testers.

Overall, the Mi VR Play seems like a slightly upgraded Google Cardboard alternative that could just do the trick for the budget VR sector.
