Yacht Club scraps Xbox One’s physical Shovel Knight release
The studio credited the delay to “publishing policies on the [Xbox One] that are beyond our control”.

“With extremely heavy hearts, we’re sad to announce there will not be an Xbox One physical version this holiday”, said Yacht Club in a statement. The PS4, Wii U,3DS, and-exclusively in Europe-PC release will include the original game and the Plague of Shadows expansion and a digital version of the soundtrack.
These versions’ new release is now slated on november 3 in North America and October 20 in Europe.
Yacht Club gets out in front of a few news about the price and date for shovelry.
However, there are a few other twists in the tail, as Yacht Club want to try and avoid ending up in the bargain bin and are raising the physical edition price to $24.99 – however, preorders at $19.99 will still be honoured. It appears “some retailers ran into trouble with limited space to show off their wares, and the rules in place about where games with certain prices are displayed”. First and foremost, Xbox One owners hoping to pick up the physical retail version are out of luck, as it’s been cancelled for Xbox One. If you were looking forward to getting a retail release for Shovel Knight on Xbox One it looks like you’re out of luck.
” ‘The Vita version’s retail release has also been delayed to sometime in 2016″. “Hang in there a bit longer, and hopefully we can make something happen!”
Back in June it was announced that Shovel knight would be re-released as a retail disc version.

“Shovel Knight”, which was released initially in June 2014, is “a sweeping classic action adventure game” with an “8-bit retro aesthetic” design, Yacht Club Games’ page for “Shovel Knight” indicated. But it’s not all bad as now all physical versions of the game will come with a free digital soundtrack download.
