Yankees at Blue Jays
Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira hit home runs, Masahiro Tanaka pitched a complete game and the New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 on Saturday.

Beltran’s first-inning home run was his second of the series.
Beltran then received the unintentional, intentional four-pitch walk that brought Teixeira to the plate.
The Blue Jays were the talk of the town after sweeping the New York Yankees in a three-game set last weekend in the Bronx.
“It’s a group that knows how to fight back and they’ve done that”, Girardi said.
Having scored zero runs in their last game, the Yankees are going to have to up their game if they want to win this matchup. “He in all probability got 15 of my best sliders”.
More important, it was the second win in a row for the Yankees and put them a half game ahead of the Blue Jays in the American League East.
“I guess the line looks pretty good, but I missed a lot of spots”, Estrada said.
It was New York’s first go-ahead, pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning or later of a road game since Don Mattingly did it against the Angels in July 1994. Nova allowed five hits, one walk and three runs in seven innings. Estrada extended the franchise-record streak of Toronto starting pitchers allowing three or fewer runs to 19 straight games.
Blue Jays left-hander David Price allowed 11 hits, no walks and three runs in 7 1/3 innings and did not factor in the decision.
Joe Blanton (2-0) struck out six in three scoreless innings.
“It doesn’t matter how we win, we just have to go out there with the mentality of not being able to think of our personal numbers, what we’re doing”, he said.
“Once I hit that home run, I had a feeling (Tanaka) was going to keep it up”, Teixeira said.
While the Toronto Blue Jays boasted packed stands and fans that were on the edge of their seats trying to will their team to victory, that did not prove to be enough to beat the New York Yankees August 15. Third baseman Chase Headley hit an RBI double.
ORIOLES 8, ATHLETICS 6 (13) Manny Machado hit a two-run home run in the 13th inning, and host Baltimore also got home runs from Adam Jones and Chris Davis in a victory over Oakland. “It backfired. I felt good about putting Sanchy in”. You’d have to have your head in the sand not to understand the rivalry, if you come up in one of those systems.
Pinch-hitter Chris Colabello walked with one out in the ninth and Cliff Pennington ran for him. “Hopefully it gives us confidence”. “We went through a tough streak there offensively”. It also seemed like when they were swinging I would just make the right pitch.
“The whole inning was such a grind”, Miller said. “But for the most part I thought I was all over the place”.
The Toronto Blue Jays are not likely to change their batting order, despite two consecutive losses to the Yankees and a flood of opinion about that order on social media. It started with Kevin Pillar being hit by a pitch.

Miller struck out Ben Revere and Troy Tulowitzki with runners on second and third to close out the victory. Designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion lifted a sacrifice fly to centre.
