The Yankees are plucking from their farm yet again.

With their offense sputtering and three days into a stretch of 16 games in 16 days, the Yankees are calling upon reinforcements, calling up one of their top prospects, first baseman Gregory Bird.
According to Baseball America, Bird is now ranked as the Yankees fourth best prospect; only behind Luis Severino, who is now at the major league level, Aaron Judge, and Jorge Mateo. Bird, a left-handed hitter, can provide relief to these roles and infuse youth into the aging Yankees’ lineup.
Bird, drafted out of high school in the fifth round of the 2011 draft, has quickly worked his way up the Yankees’ organizational ladder.
The 22-year-old Bird, a lefty swinger with lots of power, has a line of.277/.356/.469 across Double-A and Triple-A this season, with 12 homers and 52 RBIs in 83 combined games. 301 with six home runs and 23 RBIs in 34 games. He also hit seven doubles and posted a. 353 on-base percentage.
