Yankees honor Alex Rodriguez for reaching 3000 hits

“It’s been consistent from day one; rest has been synonymous with me doing well shortly after”, Rodriguez said.

The Subway Series may be coming at the ideal time for Alex Rodriguez.

“It’s rare for me that I get to celebrate a day with my mother, my two daughters, manager, teammates and obviously the fans of New York”, Rodriguez said.

The Yankees presented Rodriguez with a decorative crystal piece that has engravings to commemorate the milestone hit, which made him the 29th player to reach 3,000. Rodriguez received a standing ovation from parts of the crowd, had his mother, daughters and two siblings introduced.

“Maybe it was the video he saw of his first base hit [during the ceremony] and how fast he was that it kind of came back to him”, the manager said.

After the game, A-Rod said “that’s how the slowest man in baseball looks”.

The ceremony lasted approximately 10 minutes and began with a video of Rodriguez’s notable hits, including his first one with the Seattle Mariners.

After returning from the ban, there were diminished expectations for his production and relationship with the Yankees.

The knee didn’t seem to faze Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in the Yankees’ 6-3 loss to the Rays. King reports that Rodriguez suffered the injury on that dramatic slide home on Sunday. “Just looking forward to it and excited to get back out there as a starter”.

The Yankees had contended they were not going to pay since his previous misdeeds tainted them and prevented from being marketable milestones.

Yankee clippings: Assuming he’s not needed out of the bullpen Monday, the Yankees plan to use Adam Warren as their starting pitcher on Tuesday.

That’s a nice little gift right there, I’d say.
