Yankees officially switching to StubHub for resales

We can probably do the math, and New York Daily News is reporting that the two parties have “agreed to a landmark deal that will make StubHub the official ticket re-seller for the organization”.

Fans were only able to enter Yankee Stadium with a physical ticket or mobile ticket, with the latter only available at the Yankees Ticket Exchange, a club-affiliated secondary market run by Ticketmaster with floors for prices but no ceilings.

According to published reports, the deal is said to be worth about $100 million. According to the Yankees, ticket fraud is enabled by third-party ticket resellers like StubHub, with which the Yankees have an agreement to honor fake tickets when possible.

New York Yankees and StubHub officials will gather together to make a major announcement on Monday, June 27, at 11:30 AM ET, at Yankee Stadium, in the Press Conference Room (000 Level).

Earlier this year, the Yankees made a controversial decision to stop accepting paper tickets printed at home through StubHub.

The new deal starts after the MLB All-Star Game. This meant that fans could not buy tickets hours before the game StubHub. This was an inconvenience for a company that prides itself on being a convenient place to resell tickets.

Buyers then had to pick up tickets at a StubHub office several blocks away from Yankee Stadium.
