Year after stunning Serena, Vinci returns to U.S. Open with win

“We thought it would be a really fun way to celebrate one of the best athletes of our generation as she competes for a record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title”, said Kenny Mitchell, head of consumer engagement for Gatorade. Each level represents a different Grand Slam singles title she’s won over the course of her career, all leading up to her next competition at the U.S. Open, the opening of which begins today.

The game is available in Snapchat’s ESPN Discover channel, as mentioned, but it’s also available on the web courtesy of Gatorade if you’re an old or otherwise unwilling to locate it in the Snapchativerse.

Match Point is a pretty simple tapping game in which players must time their times perfectly to return serves from Serena Williams’ opponents. “Serena Match Point“, an 8-bit game with 22 levels, is the result of a partnership between the social media platform, the namesake tennis star, and Gatorade. Users who swipe the ad on ESPN’s Discover channel will reach the game in the app. You get three chances to score the final point of the match, once you have done that, you will move up to the next level all the way to 22.

Gatorade is also offering the game on a website, SerenaMatchPoint.com, that is accessible by desktop or mobile. Should she rack up another title next month, Gatorade will unlock a bonus match.
