Years Later, JonBenet Ramsey Case Remains Open

The world might just be one step closer to finding out what happened to JonBenét Ramsey – and her family one step closer to finally finding peace.

The department has received more than 20,000 letters, tips and emails, and more than 1,000 people have been interviewed.

For another, the specific case of JonBenet Ramsey gives TV an opportunity to once again exploit the memory of the child, and indulge in showing those disturbing photos of a toddler dressed in age-inappropriate beauty queen regalia.

No arrests have been made, no warrants issued, but the high-stakes reveals of HBO’s The Jinx and Netflix’s Making a Murderer have a lot of true crime fare teasing resolution these days.

The Ramsey case is getting the most attention, though. “We remain focused on this investigation and finding justice for JonBenet”.

The trailer also shows detectives and other investigators who worked the case and will provide new theories about how the little girl died and shed light on evidence as they try to prove someone broke into the family’s Boulder, Colorado home.

Patsy Ramsey died of ovarian cancer in 2006. In the video, a retired Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent said, “This little girl’s homicide to this date has not been resolved”.

All of which sounds creepy and ghoulish to me. The talk show will premiere its three-part season, which starts on Monday, Sept. 12, and continues on Tuesday, Sept. 13 and Monday, Sept 19. Their son Burke (who was nine at the time of his sister’s death, and is now 29) is set to give his first television interview about the murder later this month with Dr Phil. New experts also weigh in on their investigation, which included re-examining evidence with the benefit of new technology and forensic tools. It is the latest in a series of JonBenet-related specials that will air this fall.

Even the somewhat more prestigious CBS network offers its own six-hour event docuseries, “The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey”, which unites original investigators of the case.
