Yelchin was sent jeep recall notice after death
Anton Yelchin’s parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against bosses at Fiat-Chrysler. “It’s against nature when a parent has to bury their own child”.

We can’t imagine what the Yelchin family is going through right now. Dordick said the company’s formal notice of the recall arrived in Anton Yelchin’s mail a week after his death.
According to The Associated Press, Yelchin’s SUV was among the more than 1 million vehicles recalled by Fiat Chrysler because its gear shift did not clearly indicate whether or not it was in park. “They should have never used this device”.
Anton Yelchin was best known for his role as Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek franchise; he was 27 at the time of his death.
“The company has not been served with a lawsuit and can not comment further at this time”, the statement said.
As of late June, the NHTSA was aware of some 700 complaints regarding the issue, including 266 crashes and 68 injuries.
The wrongful death and product liability case filed by the Yelchins says the car’s mechanisms were defective, poorly designed and manufactured. Yelchin left his 2015 Grand Cherokee at the top of his driveway and walked down toward his gate, apparently believing the vehicle was safely in park.
In tears, Mrs Yelchin added: “Every morning we’re getting text messages or emails from his friends all around the world saying how much. losing this attractive human being, and the world is really missing him and it’s not right that he is not here”.
As the Inquisitr stated, Fiat Chrysler is the company that makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which rolled down Yelchin’s driveway and pinned the actor against his security gate and a pillar. It flagged a problem with the vehicle’s gear selector, which made it unclear to drivers whether the auto was actually in park.
Irina Yelchin cried as Dordick said at a news conference that the automaker put profits before safety.
The lawsuit was officially announced in Los Angeles as the papers were filed in the Superior Court in the early hours of Tuesday afternoon.

The electronic shifter, which has a button to change gears instead of requiring drivers to physically move a lever, could cause drivers to mistakenly believe their vehicle is in park, when it is actually in neutral or drive, the federal safety agency said.
