Yes, Chris Rock really did raise $65K for the Girl Scouts

All money made from the sale of Girl Scout cookies goes back into the long-running organisation’s coffers, paying for outdoors programmes, group travel and activities. We’re talking about the humorously heartwarming segment during which Rock helped his daughter win her troop’s top honor by selling the most Girl Scout cookies.

“I have missed most of girls scout cookie season”, the Academy Awards host said, explaining his motivation. With that simple statement, iconic standup comedian Chris Rock completely guilted the entirety of the Hollywood elite into buying some god damn Girl Scout cookies.

In a completely incredible plug for the national non-profit organization for young girls, Rock spoke about how he was spending so much time away from his two daughters in prepping for his Oscars hosting stint. Ask any woman who has been a Girl Scout and she will tell you that selling Girl Scout Cookies was not only fun, but helped build her courage and confidence.

But that’s exactly what happened Sunday, when Chris Rock used his gig hosting the Oscars to sell Girl Scout cookies, ostensibly to beat Dunn, whose 11-year-old daughter is in the same Englewood Cliffs troop as his daughter.

Celebrities that made orders included Kate Winslet, Michael B. Jordan, Tina Fey, Charlize Theron, Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Mindy Kaling. First of all, the girls featured on the awards show were from the Inglewood, Calif., troop so all the money will be going to that troop and supporting programs in the Greater Los Angeles area. Rock yelled toward Leonardo DiCaprio.

Chris Rock probably didn’t realize Girl Scout fundraising could be so controversial. The Samosa are Alaska’s most popular cookie, according to Perles.
