Yes, the Clinton Benghazi Hearings are Political, But There’s More To It
NBC News’ “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd asked the ranking Democratic member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Elijah Cummings, a question every conservative would like an answer to – why didn’t he do his job in questioning former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“As the family and I have worked through the – the grieving process, I’ve said all along what I’ve said time and again to others: that it may very well be that that process, by the time we get through it, closes the window on mounting a realistic campaign for president”. You don’t gain as much power and influence as she has based only on a name. Facts were obscured Democrats on the committee, and the editorial board of The Times, have given Clinton another pass. That is shameful. Four decades ago many – but by no means all – Republicans made similar complaints about the Watergate and impeachment hearings.
In both cases, the objective of the inquiry was legitimate.
Yet if nominated speaker, Ryan will find himself caught between “a president who doesn’t want to do anything” in terms of negotiating with Republicans and “unrealistic expectations among the base of the Republican Party”, Nunes said. The Watergate committee discovered the Nixon tapes.
Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.is seen on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, October 22, 2015, prior to the start of the committee’s hearing on Benghazi.
And Clinton wrote this to the Egyptian prime minister (and also the Libyan leader) on the night of September 11, 2012: “We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film”. There is no doubt that this is what Hillary’s most ardent defenders – several of whom served on that Benghazi panel – are determined to do regarding the actions and legacy of the former secretary of state. However she never mentioned why Benghazi remained a “war zone” a year after the U.S. had “liberated” Libya from Gaddafi.
This was probably one of the most softball interviews Clinton has done since she announced her presidential bid. They may have saved her candidacy. Then two days later she told Tyrone Woods’ father Charles that “we are going to have that filmmaker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son”. Add to that she has what no Presidential candidate before her had; the perspective that only comes from being a daughter, a mother and grandmother.
If she wins the White House in November 2016, Clinton should send thank-you notes to McCarthy, Gowdy and the rest of the House Republicans.
Did they agree to blame the attack on a spontaneous protest of an anti-Islam video?
Although Clinton was celebrating what she and many Clinton loyalists called a victory, one analyst found troubling signs in her day of testimony. Do all politicians lie? Obama was seeking re-election on a platform of, in Joe Biden’s words, “Osama bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive”. The administration couldn’t afford to acknowledge that neither al-Qaida, nor terrorism, had been dealt a mortal blow.
Nothing is free in politics, but there is a few question as to when you’ll pay the price. Obama paid no price in 2012: He was re-elected. It is a political witch hunt against Hillary Clinton in an election cycle, and a awful waste of taxpayer dollars, as even testified to by two of its Republican committee members, one who had to give up the prospect of House Speaker because of his truth-telling!

Ah, well, this wouldn’t be the first time Americans chose a president of dubious repute.
