Indian Premier Narendra Modi is about to arrive on a visit to the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Friday amid tensions between the two neighbors.

Modi and Sharif talked about restarting a dialogue and increasing people-to-people contacts between their nations, he said.
“Spoke to PM Nawaz Sharif & wished him on his birthday”, Modi added in another tweet. He also presented a gift (Traditional dresses) to Sharif’s grand daughter over a marriage. Last month, amid furious speculation, Modi and Sharif shook hands and held a two-minute meeting on the sidelines of the Paris climate summit.
External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Firday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acted like a statesman in deciding to visit Pakistan and this is how relations with neighbours should be. Modi was in Kabul to inaugurate the new Afghan parliament built by India. Apparently, the meeting will take place inside the premises of the Lahore International Airport over lunch, which has been turned into a fortress of sort with heavyweight security. “And all of us in the region – India, Pakistan, Iran and others – must unite in trust and cooperation behind the common goal and in recognition of our common destiny”.
It was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Pakistan in a decade.
According to sources, both sides will be discussing “all issues of bilateral importance” that are integral to Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue.
He also attended Sharif’s home in Raiwind where his grand-daughter’s wedding is being held. Pakistan has vehemently denied India’s claim.

“However, more than grand gestures we need consistency (in India-Pakistan relations)”, the National Conference leader said in tweets. “Eventually prime minister needs to answer what has changed in ground situation”, Tewari said. He said that in his recent visit to India he had invited the Indian prime minister to visit Pakistan.
