The company began selling the smart thermostat Ecobee3 in North American stores on Tuesday, as first reported by The Verge.

The original version of the ecobee3 thermostat was launched during September of past year and has since then received a number of modifications including the latest which counts new support for Apple HomeKit enabling owners to be able to control their thermostat using Apple’s Siri personal assistant.

It is capable of adjusting room temperature on its own.

The Ecobee3 smart thermostat has been available for pre-order for some time, and now those orders are finally starting to ship.

Ecobee3 thermostats use data points enabling the device to make personalised heating and cooling decisions to save money on energy costs and making the process easier to homeowners. This is definitely not a very compelling reason to get rid of the existing connected thermostat, but this is a very good and convenient as it can add more HomeKit connected product.

Any product that supports HomeKit can be controlled by Siri and grouped into scenes that allow a home to be quickly set into certain states, whether it’s for arriving home, going to bed, or watching a movie.

It’s worth noting that Apple already sold the Ecobee3 as well as the more popular Nest smart thermometer on its website. Users can buy a pack of two sensors for $79 that can be used to detect the presence of a person or temperature in other rooms of the house.
