You might soon be able to watch your Netflix shows offline
Elspeth Kean-Mayes rang Netflix US customer service and found no way around losing her subscription to the US library through a virtual private network (VPN) service.

That means that many Netflix subscribers are still paying either $7.99 or $8.99 for a plan that normally costs $9.99.
Although its own original slate is only a quarter the size of Netflix’s, Amazon.com can boast that its shows won more Emmy awards previous year than its rival. Hulu appears to exist to squeeze profit from the company’s core live TV content instead of winning substantive streaming-content market share.
Netflix is offered in only 21 languages, compared with YouTube’s 50, and payment options limited to global credit cards, J.P. Morgan Securities analysts said.
The video provider will be available via Amazon “this Spring”, the companies say.
According to the Motley Fool, another factor worrying investors was online retailer Amazon’s announcement that it is launching a standalone video streaming service. Compare this to the 4,908 available in the U.S., and there’s a big difference in service.
VPN services around the world have since been blocked by Netflix.
The good news is that Netflix could be having a change of heart.
Netflix fights back against VPN users, but at what cost?
“We are preparing and simulating a number of other workaround options in case the crackdown becomes more aggressive”.
Netflix seems to know that, but for one reason or another they’re not ready to pull the trigger just yet.
“I pointed out that my subscription to America predates NZ Netflix and it was not illegal then or now for that matter and that I objected to being disconnected”.
Netflix isn’t winning any popularity awards from users this month.
Wall Street pays a lot of attention to Netflix, which leads to volatility around earnings, Atlantic Equities U.S. research sales analyst Oliver Herington told Bloomberg.
Analysts with J.P. Morgan Securities, meanwhile, say the company should look to add more languages and local content if it wants to keep expanding.
The rival service was lauded for the move, but Netflix remained frustratingly silent on the matter.
Netflix is offering some mixed messages with respect to virtual reality. Prime membership is priced at US$10.99, while Prime Video membership is at US$8.99.
