But this is much more than just another papal visit.

Even though Francis will appear on TV and the Internet, the Rev. Patrick Behm of All Saints Parish in Le Mars, Iowa, said there is nothing like seeing the pope live.

Campbell has not been actively involved with the gay rights issue, but is an eyebrow-raising pick to greet the pope because she publicly supported Obama’s Affordable Care Act in opposition to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The anticipation is mounting for the Pope’s visit.

Obama and Francis, who met in Rome in March previous year , will have a one-on-one meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday. “We don’t know what he’s going to say until he says it. We are fully expecting that there will be some messages with which we may respectfully disagree or have differences”.

Director of Communications for the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Albany, Mary DeTurris Poust, will be attending and is media credentialed for the papal visit in New York City.

“I admire Pope Francis deeply and I’m excited about his upcoming visit”, Biden said in a statement Thursday afternoon, according to Reuters.

More than 150 priests and future priests from South Florida will pack a Southwest Airlines flight to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday on their way to a rare opportunity: to see a Pope on American soil.

Pope Francis will afterwards head to St. Matthew Cathedral to meet and pray with the US bishops at 11:30 a.m. EDT, followed by the canonization mass for Blessed Junipero Serra outside the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at 4:15 p.m. EDT. And his call to action on climate change and condemnation of unbridled capitalism and the “cult of money” put him at odds with political conservatives in the US and elsewhere.

Maggie Burns says, he’s just that kind of Pontiff, and she can’t wait to see him.

In 2012, Pope Benedict XVI criticized Marxism and spoke of the need for “new models”.

Pope Francis has a devout following of Catholics and non-Catholics alike, eerily reminiscent of a cult following. “I am attracted to his humility and holiness”. “I think the pope is touching fundamental points”, the cardinal said, and calling for reflection.

It might be tough to get a glimpse of the pope when he’s in Washington, but there is a way to take him home with you that’s Vatican-approved.
