Young Lakers have been bad at Summer League, and that’s OK

Despite his excellent passing and vision, Russell is learning that the curve for an National Basteball Association point guard is very steep. Let the wave of worry and doubt in Russell’s inability to run the offense or fit in the triangle wash over you. Seraphin comes in after being a backup for the Wizards last season and he could be a bench option behind Roy Hibbert and Bass for the Lakers. It’s naturally going to take him some time to get comfortable to the National Basteball Association setting. With his confidence mounting, Clarkson has emerged as an individual who can take on an increased role, even with a healthy Kobe Bryant in the lineup.

Los Angeles Lakers? D’Angelo Russell drives by Minnesota Timberwolves?

During the National Basteball Association Summer League, Coach Scott was asked about Young and the improvements the veteran is trying to make in order to remain in Los Angeles long-term. It really doesn’t matter because…well…it’s SUMMER LEAGUE! Just from one summer league game, he learned the National Basteball Association backcourt rule, and that ballwatching on defense basically ensures that you’ll get beat every time.

Last years Lakers were seen as a disapointment, one of the worst records in the league, top draft pick Julius Randle got injured, Kobe got reinjured, and a roster with a serious lack of talent.

Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell then turned the ball over with 24 seconds left, and after a missed jumper by Dallas’ Maalik Wayns, Jeremy Tyler beat everyone for the rebound and the putback that gave the Mavericks the lead for good, 88-86, with 1.4 seconds left.

But regardless of anything, there’s no excuse for him corralling only one rebound in their first game.

The Lakers planned to ease the burden for Russell and Julius Randle – the team’s 2014 lottery pick who is essentially entering his rookie season after breaking his leg in his first National Basteball Association season – by finding an established star in free agency. Clarkson looked good attacking the rim throughout the evening, though he didn’t find the range on his outside shot.

“There’s little things that you can do in college that you can’t do in the pros”, Russell said. This part of their game develops with time, and Russell was an excellent shooter at Ohio State. He did not play in the Lakers’ second contest, but the day off did not help Randle who had a -15 plus/minus as he scored seven points on 2-8 shooting and grabbed six rebounds against the New York Knicks on Monday.
