Younis Khan surpassed Javed Miandad to become Pakistan’s top run scorer in test cricket.

Younis, who needed 19 runs to claim the record at the start of the first Test, overtook Miandad’s landmark of 8,832 when he charged out of his crease to England offspinner Moeen Ali and hit him for six during the 62nd over of Pakistan’s innings. “He was idolised by millions”. In 2014’s Pakistan win against Australia with 2-0, Khan summed up 468 runs.
Younis, who will turn 38 this November, is going strong despite finding himself in the wrong side of the age and soon can become the first Pakistani player to reach that magical 10000-run mark. He said that the duo could continue with their cricket career as long as they feel fit, the Express Tribune reported.
“This is an important series for us, so I want to do my best for the team and for the country”.
The veteran batsman is in great nick, having smashed a brilliant undefeated 171 in Pakistan’s last Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in July.
It is interesting that both these batsmen had scored a ton on their debut Test.
That century was also Younis’s fifth in a fourth innings of a Test – a new record in the history of the game. Sunil Gavaskar, Ricky Ponting, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Graeme Smith had all scored four each. However, the humble Younis still does not believe that he is Miandad’s equal.

He further said that he could have made a new record in matches against Sri Lanka but Misbah scored a few quick runs.
