Your cheat sheet to night one of the Republican convention

Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, the USA foreign service information management officer who was among four Americans killed in the attacks, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, spoke Monday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Trump, who is making his first run at political office, should also paint Clinton, a former first lady, US senator and secretary of state, as the ultimate insider and not focus on her being a liberal Democrat, said Morris, who worked for the Clintons in the 1990s.

“I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son”, Smith said in an emotional speech applauded by delegates.

Smith, who expressed agreement with a attendees sign that read “Hillary for Prison”, went on to call Trump “everything Hillary Clinton is not”, saying he will “not hesitate to kill the terrorists who threaten American lives”.

But neither presented any evidence against then-Secretary of State Clinton, who was responsible for security at the Benghazi diplomatic facilities. She also said Clinton lied to her about the reason for her son’s death in the days following the attack. “I’m still waiting”, Smith said. And among those primary voters who cast ballots for Kasich earlier this year, 49 percent said they would not vote for Trump in the general election in the fall, preferring Clinton, Johnson or Stein instead.

The four-day Republican convention kicked off on Monday and Trump would formally be coronated as the party’s presidential nominee on Thursday.

“If Michigan is going to be a toss-upstate, Donald Trump’s goal during this convention should be to solidify his Republican base and start addressing issues that will attract women voters, especially Republican women voters, to his candidacy”, President of MRG Tom Shields said.

In response to Clinton’s visit, State GOP Chair Keith Downey says “Clinton talks a big talk, but when it comes down to results we have a more unsafe world”.

Clinton used the occasion to slam Trump for his divisive policies and rhetoric. I don’t understand why the Republicans would choose to put this on primetime television when they have such wonderful stories of heroism.

The theme of the opening night of the Republican convention was “Make America Safe Again” and several speakers were scheduled to address the Benghazi attack and Clinton’s role in it.
