Your first look at Jude Law as ‘The Young Pope’

MANILA, Philippines – In the upcoming Sky Original series The Young Pope, the pontiff is played by Jude Law, and from the casting alone, things might get interesting. Inside the Vatican, the mysterious and contradictory Pius XIII is at once shrewd and naïve, old-fashioned and very modern, doubtful and resolute, ironic, pedantic, hurt and ruthless. He is the youngest and first American Pope in history.

The short teaser shows the pope at prayer everywhere from a chapel to the bottom of a swimming pool, while he is also seen reclining in a chair smoking – another subtle nudge towards the new pope’s darker character.
