Your phone may soon sense everything around you
With Google Tango technology, the Phab 2 Pro uses a set of sensors and software to sense and map its surroundings, enabling an augmented reality experience through motion tracking, depth perception and area learning. Experts also believe that augmented reality will become extremely popular in the near future, which is why a lot of companies, both big and small, are investing considerable sums of cash into the technology. In addition to being sold online to the whole world, the Lenovo PHAB2 Pro will be available at Lowe’s in the United States.

The Phab2 Pro is coming out as phone sales are slowing.
“Tango technology will allow customers to see how their home improvement visions translate into reality like never before”, said Richard Maltsbarger, Lowe’s Chief Development Officer. There was a “toy box” app that could place virtual dominoes or other toys on real-life objects, which you could then interact with.
Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG, +0.04% GOOGL, -0.06% Google disclosed the Tango effort in early 2014, and its relationship with Lenovo was disclosed in January.
As the first consumer smartphone to feature Tango capabilities, the PHAB2 Pro is quite special in its own right.
Another demo showed how a Tango phone can generate augmented-reality views of the environment by putting life-size dinosaurs on stage. More important, it’s the first time Project Tango has ever been integrated into a device meant for humans, not developers. There are seven to eight apps written that it helped fund as part of the Project Tango App Incubator program, but more should follow.
In a museum this was fun, but imagine a day where you land in a foreign city, download an app for Tango and it tells you where you need to go to see all the best landmarks. As many as 14 million workers, or 8 percent of USA employees, will use smart glasses by 2025, the research firm has predicted. Not much is known about these devices, however we’ll let you know when we obtain more information.

The year 2016 is halfway done and we have already seen various manufacturers introduce their flagship devices that have taken the smartphone industry by storm. Because of the volume of reader comments, we can not review individual moderation decisions with readers. Don’t include URLs to Web sites. They are either approved or deleted. In this case, we may fix spelling and punctuation.
We appreciate it when readers and people quoted in articles or blog posts point out errors of fact or emphasis and will investigate all assertions.

Android Central also has a live blog running the moment the keynote kicks off, and so this gives you a good idea of what the consumer thinks about the announcements being made.
