They have pointed to increased product rollouts since he took the helm in July – specifically citing Project Lightening – and said that what Twitter needs most to succeed is a regular slate of new features to simplify the site and keep users engaged.

The new feature is activated by clicking on a lightning-bolt tab at the top or bottom of the screen.

A fresh “Moments” feature that promised to let folks immediately tune into “the finest of Twitter” made its advent in America having a guarantee it could spread more extensive in the forthcoming months. “But it doesn’t have to be”, reads a blog post from Twitter.

“We’re looking for people who have either tried and kind of given up, or people who use it and know there’s good content there, but for one reason or another they haven’t really gotten the experience that we all get out of it here”, he told The Verge.

Moments will be curated largely by Twitter employees with contributions from partners such as Bleacher Report, Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Getty Images, Mashable, MLB, NASA, New York Times, Vogue and the Washington Post. “It doesn’t require followers, it doesn’t searches and it doesn’t require hashtags”, Madhu Muthukumar, product manager, Moments, said in a Periscope presentation.

Each moment is led with a small summary of the news, written by Twitter. As new stories emerge throughout the day, Twitter will continue to update this list. The topics in tweets also indicate income level, Preoţiuc-Pietro and his team found. Users who referenced politics, NGOs, and “corporate” tended to have higher incomes; swear words and “alternative spellings”, on the other hand, predict a lower income. An unknown number of employees curate the day’s best tweets – such as interactions between celebrities or the most shared news stories and photos – so that users can find them even if they do not follow certain accounts. When that story ends, so do the Tweets, leaving the user’s timeline just as it was before.

Moments is allegedly available on Twitter now, however although Twitter itself makes no mention of it, it may be restricted to the United States at launch because it’s not appearing on Twitter.com, or the Android app in Asia at the time of writing.
