YouTube Gaming is ready to give Twitch some competition

Since YouTube hasn’t officially announced the launch of the service going live just yet, there are now no details about how the pay model will work for streamers, although those details should surface sometime after YouTube Gaming is live. Creators can check live analytics and monitor comments from the app, and each stream has a custom URL for easy sharing. You will be able to check out the best videos for more than 25,000 games with their own channels.

Within those pages there’ll be live streams from some of YouTube’s biggest names, game walkthroughs as well as the usual array of content from video game publishers. At launch, YouTube Gaming should have both web and mobile applications available, so that you can feed that gaming addiction from anywhere. For example, typing “call” into the search bar will show “Call of Duty” as opposed to ‘Call Me Maybe’.

Clearly Twitch has something of a head start, but YouTube Gaming has the clout of Google behind it; YouTube is already a popular destination for gamers looking to share their gaming footage.

Those wishing to stream and view through YouTube’s new platform may not have to wait much longer to dive in though, as it’s expected to get a launch tomorrow on August 26th.
