YouTube is building a new version of its app for virtual reality
A VR-focused YouTube mobile app is also on the way, sporting the it-does-what-it-says-on-the-tin name of YouTube VR. The iPhone customer ground might also increase further due to the introduction of the Google Cardboard support feature.

You can also select VR-ready clips from the YouTube 360 Videos channel, which utilizes the Cardboard mode effectively. How? With a relatively lightweight storage size of 52.7 MB, the YouTube 11.18 version can transform two-dimensional video content into engaging and exciting 3D with a set of easy-to-follow steps.
Something to remember is this new functionality doesn’t mystically transform regular YouTube videos into 360-degree content or anything, in Cardboard mode you’re basically viewing the video in theater mode.
Google, at its I/O announced its newest take on virtual reality tech and how it can be integrated into the smartphone arena. The Google Cardboard VR headset has had a tight-lipped victory since its launch in 2014 summer. You’ll also be able to use your voice to search for specific videos instead of tapping out letters on a keyboard, or channel surf by clicking from one video to the next.
Well, the latest YouTube app version v11. After all, the more people out there are making VR video, the better off YouTube will ultimately be.
Of course, it’s important to note that VR mode doesn’t magically turn videos into 360-degree videos.
The app’s UI pops up in front of the current playing video, and a toolbar along the top has tabs for Home, 360 Video, Subscriptions, and Accounts.
The term “content is king” may date back to an article written by Bill Gates in 1996, but the saying has never really gone out of style, and it applies equally today when it comes to the burgeoning virtual reality marketplace; those headset makers with a superior content offering will be well placed to rapidly grow their user base. So it will be interesting to see how the video repository cuts the cake.
