YouTube ramps 360-degree video with ‘Spotlight Stories’

Just in time for Christmas, Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects Group (ATAP) has collaborated with Aardman Animations (the Oscar-winning studio behind Wallace and Gromit), to bring a new short film to YouTube, and to Google Spotlight Stories on Android. As the chase goes on from room to room, up and down, the stranger remains elusive – leaving only a trail of gifts for the caretaker to follow.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Has the Biggest Opening of All Time
As far as all-time box office sales, two films by James Cameron hold the record – Avatar (US.78 billion) and Titanic (US.18). He said “Star Wars” profits won’t offset larger troubles Disney faces from shrinking subscribers at the ESPN sports network.

If you look away from the main character, the story will pause, allowing you to unlock other side-stories only available by exploring the scene.

‘Star Wars’ Soars Overseas but Can’t Break Foreign, Worldwide Records
The Force Awakens has its sights set on Avatar’s highest grossing movie record, which now stands at .8 billion in global sales. Overseas, “The Force Awakens ” opened to 9 million as it played in every major market except China, India and Greece.

There are two versions of the video available, one which is optimised for Android Phones from Google Spotlight Stories in YouTube app. There is also a 360 version available on iOS and web browsers as Google didn’t want anyone to miss ‘Special Delivery’.

Chipotle Eyed in Outbreak of Different E. Coli Strain
In an effort to regain customers’ trust, Chipotle has reexamined and overhauled its food safety protocols. The most recent illness in this outbreak reported to CDC started on November 3, the federal agency said.

The format lets movie creators take advantage of sensors like the gyroscope and accelerometer in order to create an immersive viewing experience that involves 3D and 2D animations and 360-degree video. Although this is the case, the videos can still be found on the Google Spotlight stories YouTube channel and the YouTube app as well.

“You’ll want to watch “Special Delivery” a few times to find all the surprises within the story”, an official blog post from YouTube says.
