Pacer Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a comeback to the India squad for the ODI and T20 series in Australia.

The tour comprises five ODIs and three T20 Internationals to be played between January 12 and 31 at Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney (ODIs), Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney (T20Is).

The BCCI also confirmed that MS Dhoni would continue to captain both the ODI and T20I teams till the 2016 World T20, quelling speculations surrounding his future. We will need experienced players in the T20 WC.

In the recently-concluded series against South Africa, India lost both the T20 matches and the ODI series 2-3 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Nehra, in stark contrast, was one of the best performers in the last IPL, picking up 22 wickets from 16 matches to help Chennai Super Kings into the final.

Young Punjab left-arm seamer Brainder Sran has been given the maiden ODI call up. “Australia tour ideal chance to give them a shot”.

“I didn’t play worldwide cricket in last one-and-a-half-year”. When the first World T20 was to be played in 2007, the then veterans Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble had made a decision to skip the tournament, affirming the notion that this format of the game was meant for the youngsters.

One-day squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Gurkeerat Singh, Rishi Dhawan and Brainder Sran. “And, as long as I have support from the team management, the selectors and the fans, I am sure results will come”, he signs off.

Yuvraj Singh has not had it easy; he went from being the poster boy of Indian cricket to battling cancer and overcome the ordeal in flying colours. Yuvi’s career got a fresh lifeline following the selection for next year’s T20I series against Australia in Australia.
