Zach Ertz’s rib injury a ‘dangerous situation,’ coach says
Head coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Zach Ertz suffered an injury in the first quarter of the win over Cleveland, and that the fourth-year tight end is week-to-week heading towards the team’s Monday Night Football matchup with the Chicago Bears.

Tight end Zach Ertz and cornerback Leodis McKelvin are officially out of the gameplan for week two.
Pederson said everyone else, including Isaac Seumalo (pec) and Bryce Treggs (knee) will practice this week.
Ertz has a rib displacement near his left shoulder.
“It just shows the toughness, the physical toughness that he has, once we found out the extent of the injury for him to play through it”, Pederson said. In Ertz’s case, the Eagles head coach stated “when dealing with a displaced bone, You have to be careful”. “It’s a first rib displacement”.
Pederson explained that the injury is not a broken bone.
Considering Ertz (6 receptions, 58 yards) finished the game and didn’t seem to be in too much pain in the locker room following the win, it was somewhat surprising to hear that Ertz could be sidelined next week.
“He did a great job for us and it’s something we’ll continue to look at from a package standpoint”, Pederson said. It didn’t take long to get the answer to one of the questions that entered the minds of many Philadelphia Eagles fans now that they are starting to calm down from the adrenaline rush some of you may know as Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

“He’s probably going to have to be cleared [by team doctors]”, Pederson added.
