Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth engage in first-pitch battle

Just a pair of famous diamonds.

Johnson wasn’t golf’s only major champion to throw out a first pitch Tuesday, though.

As if we’d expect anything else from the men who nabbed three of the four majors this year, both Jordan Spieth and Zach Johnson brought the heat on their first pitches tonight. “And got it over the strike zone too, so that was nice”.

The two star golfers provided a friendly battle off the golf course.

Though the high camera angle doesn’t do Johnson full justice, you can still see the Open Championship victor deliver a good first pitch. Spieth will be feted in Arlington, Tex., before the game between the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners.

The lefty threw a swift strike to Josh Hamilton after accepting a $2,500 donation from the Rangers to the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, which focuses on giving back to special needs youth as well as military families and junior golf.

The 21-year-old Dallas native said he had an even worse memory of the stadium from when he was a boy.

Spieth is the first Texan to be ranked the No. 1 golfer, which is especially meaningful, Spieth said, considering all the all-time greats from the State. “I mean beer and peanuts. My boys are playing it now, so obviously that becomes an element and a part of it. We do lot in the summer, just throwing the ball around in the park”.
