Zayn Just Beat One Direction’s Record High on the Billboard Hot 100

Taking to Twitter last night to tell us how chuffed he is with the news, Zayn said that he can’t put into words how grateful he is for the honour of debuting at Number 1 on the Billboard chart, especially with his debut single. This was a milestone for the singer, as he never managed to clinch that honor while being with One Direction.

Zayn enlisted girlfriend Gigi Hadid for the “Pillowtalk” video.

Malik’s Pillowtalk replaced Shawn Mendes’ Stitches at the top of the singles chart, with Mendes falling to number three behind Fast Car, from Jonas Blue ft Dakota – a dance version of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 single.

The former One Direction singer’s first solo single has also topped the On Demand Songs and U.S. Digital Songs chart and reached number one in his native United Kingdom following its January 29 release.

The closest One Direction came to scoring a chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 single was with “Best Song Ever”, which reached Number Two in 2013.

Craig David entered the top 10 singles chart for the first time since his 2007 record “Hot Stuff” (Lets Dance) as his new hit “When the Bassline Drops” moved in to seventh position, 10 weeks after it was first released.

Fans from all over the world have celebrated Zayn Malik’s success and are optimistic that it can only take him further.
