“I really wanted to write a song for Zayn…”

M.I.A. says her friendship with Malik goes back to when she considered writing songs for his debut solo album, Mind of Mine. On the new song “Cruel”, Zayn sings in a plaintive neon light: “I’ve been by myself remembering you/ Your body hurts me”.
We wonder if ZAYN just sent lyrics over or was he singing parts of the song and sending them as sound clips?
“Before I started writing properly my own stuff, I was thinking maybe I’ll write for other people instead”, she said. And that’s how it came about. “First, I thought I wanted to try writing a song for him”, she explained to Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, M.I.A has revealed she has also teamed up with her former lover Diplo on her new single “Birdsong”, which will be released on August 12. Here’s her latest, ‘Go Off, ‘ which was produced by Skrillex and Blaqstarr.
The two have not worked together since 2010 after publicly falling out with one another.

M.I.A., who is known for her political outbursts, recently told the BBC the album, title AIM, is “the cleanest album I have”, adding, “It’s my last record so I just want it to be happy”. Arulpragasam has previously said that it will be her last.
