Zayn Malik’s TV series Boys to be inspired by One Direction

This week’s perceived snub came from departed One Direction member Zayn Malik, who has been announced as an executive producer and collaborator on a new NBC drama about the making of a boyband and their rise to fame.

One Direction was formed on the British version of “The X Factor” in 2010.

Zayn has teamed up with Dick Wolf, the legendary TV producer, for the hour-long boy band drama which will be created with NBC.

The concept is that that the show will take Malik’s own experiences and use them to show how a young person with musical dreams, can see their life changed beyond belief.

However, he did say that nothing really surprises him anymore.

Since leaving the band, Zayn has forged a solo career with singles including Pillowtalk and Like I Would.

The creators of The CW network TV show Beauty and the Beast, Sherri Cooper Landsman and Jennifer Levin, will pen the script and produce with Zayn, Dick and his wife Noelle.

Whether Simon Cowell is happy with the singer’s decision to work on a series inspired by his time in a boy band or not, it is clear that the project is moving forward. A representative for Zayn Malik did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

But Cowell told Entertainment Tonight: “I think he should have come to me with it, if I’m being honest with you”. There is also no release date yet for the new show or news as to who will be a part of the series.
